Sixth Orientation Intern (Ju) / STDT 3

Job Description: Portions of this job are performed remotely in support of the Campus response to Covid-19.

Serving under the supervision of the Sixth College Orientation Intern, assist with Freshman, Transfer and Family Orientation activities for 2021 Sixth Orientation program. The Orientation Intern will be expected to exemplify and reinforce the UCSD Student Code of Conduct, including residence hall standards regarding the use of alcohol and drugs.
Responsibilities include: assist College staff with the recruitment of Freshman and Transfer Orientation Leaders, assist in logistical/marketing planning (i.e. preparing and distributing flyers, campus-wide materials, t-shirt design, on-site coordination of events, etc.), assist with outreach, and other Orientation leadership, training and support roles as listed in the DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION ATTACHED.

Level 1 - duties described above.

Level 2 - must have 1-year Orientation Intern experience. Additional responsibilities include: Mentor Senior Orientation Leaders; and order/organize NFRS/TRAN/FAM Orientation programs.

COMPENSATION

  • STDT 3 - variable hours in Summer and Fall. (Level 1, $15.50/hour)
  • STDT 3 - variable hours in Summer and Fall. (Level 2, $16.00/hour)
  • STDT 3 - 40 hours/week during session week/s (Level 1, $15.50/hour)
  • STDT 3 - 40 hours/week during session week/s (Level 2, $16.00/hour)
  • Some meals provided during intensive training and during orientation sessions.

MANDATORY MEETING/SESSION DATES*

  • Must be available to attend mandatory meetings, and All-College Leader preparation meetings for fall orientation and move-ins.
  • Must be available to work irregular hours beginning Mid-June through June 30th, and beginning to mid-September to assist with Freshman and Transfer Orientation programs
  • Alternate schedules may be accommodated due to religious observations.

ORIENTATION DATES*

Mid-June to June 30; and mid-September

Qualifications:
Must be registered UC undergraduate student.
Must pay UCSD student services fees each quarter working (Sp' 21 UCSD student services fees to work summer).
Must have an overall commitment to the college and UCSD.
Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Excellent time management skills and ability to work under pressure.
Preference given to students with prior Orientation experience (e.g. Orientation Leader, Orientation Assistant, Senior Orientation Leader, etc.); and preference given to students with good conduct.
(Level 2) - must have 1-year Orientation Intern experience.

Hours per week:
10-20 hrs/week; may be more during Orientation Sessions
