ISPO Student Assistant Communications & Marketing / STDT 3

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will support the International Students & Programs Office's (ISPO) Marketing and Communication Team under direct supervision of the Manager of Student Experience and Engagement. This position will be responsible for assisting in creating engaging content on ISPO’s communication platforms including social media, web, and email marketing. This individual will serve as an extension of ISPO by helping to shape the international student experience at UC San Diego through digital marketing.

Duties include but are not limited to:
  • Assist in managing ISPO’s social strategies across all platforms.
  • Assist in managing ISPO’s Facebook, YouTube, and Instagram page.
  • Assist in distributing ISPO’s events and updates through other campus platforms.
  • Create and write optimized, smart social copy.
  • Create social media campaign and calendars.
  • Regularly pitch new, innovative social concepts and ideas with a international student-centered approach in mind.
  • Use analytic tools to track growth and success across social channels and manage weekly reporting.
  • Maintain close working relationship with Video Production Assistants, Graphic Designer, and Marketing and Communication Team for consistency in branding.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must have demonstrated experience in writing social copy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of social media management and marketing strategies with some experience growing accounts is a plus.
  • Must have an eye for design and understanding of brand identity.
  • Must also demonstrate experience with analytics and data analysis for social platforms.
  • Ideal candidates will possess attention to detail, be adaptable to shifting work priorities, and able to communicate concepts clearly both verbally and in writing, especially in cases of cross-cultural communication.
  • Ideal candidate will also be able to take direction and become flexible in design styles and guides to adapt to aesthetic needs of each project.
  • Ideal candidates must also be able to successfully complete assigned tasks with little supervision and in a deadline-oriented environment, have current or prior customer service experience, and have the ability to exercise patience and flexibility.
  • Must pay UCSD student services fees each quarter working. Must have paid Spring 2021 UC San Diego Student Services Fees or be an incoming Fall 2021 new admit or readmit student to work summer.

Preferred Qualifications:

· Ability understanding people with limited English language skills
· Ability to take initiative and be proactive in tasks.
· Ability to multi-task on a variety of projects and prioritize to meet deadlines.
· Availability to work occasional evening and weekends, during academic year, and summer months

Location:
FA 21- UC San Diego campus (following COVID guidelines, remote if necessary)
