Understanding Your Student’s Orientation Session

As an incoming student at UC San Diego, your student will take part in a mandatory Orientation program with their College. While each individual College Orientation Program is unique all programs include information on:

• Academic Life
• Campus Resources
• Community Rights and Responsibilities
• The Co-Curricular Experience

All new students are required to attend Orientation. Please encourage your student to visit their College Orientation website, become familiar with requirements and deadlines, and thoughtfully complete the required tasks to be better prepared for Orientation. A positive experience at Orientation will provide a strong foundation to your student’s college career at UC San Diego.

Parent and Family Orientation

Parents and families are invited to join in the Orientation experience and attend sessions covering topics from residence halls to academics to campus life. Once your student has registered for their Orientation Program you will be able to register for Parent and Family Orientation. For more specific information about the online registration process and cost, visit the Orientation website for the College that your student will attend.

Student Orientation will help your student explore UCSD's academic and social life and assist your child with their transition to our campus. Parent and Family Orientation will provide you with insight and resources to assist your student through their first year as Tritons.
